Pelle Vävare x Cathy Nordström – A Love of Patterns Meets Bathrobe Culture

Pelle Vävare and Cathy Nordström unite timeless textiles with memories of salty swims and slow mornings in Torekov.

The collection has been created in collaboration with designer and pattern creator Cathy Nordström, known for her colourful, playful yet timeless style. Inspired by her childhood memories and summers in Torekov, Cathy has designed unisex bathrobes and towels with us in our well known cotton quality – textiles to live with for years to come.

About the collaboration – Lisa Basilius, CEO of Pelle Vävare

“When I saw Cathy’s patterns, I immediately thought: this belongs with us. We share the same view on quality and longevity

Pelle Almqvist, founder of Pelle Vävare, was an early pioneer in inviting designers to collaborate together with him, bringing personality and a sense of craftsmanship – something that has become a vital part of our DNA. I want to carry that legacy forward.

When I look for a creative partner, it’s important that their design language and philosophy naturally fit into our world.”

Cathy’s perspective

For Cathy, the bathrobe is more than just a garment – it’s a symbol of slow weekend mornings with coffee, rustling newspapers, and time that’s allowed to slow down. Torekov has always held a special place in her heart. She spent her childhood summers in the family’s house there, and today she returns with her own family to their summer home in the same spot.

The bathrobe has always been part of the experience: draped over the shoulders after a swim, worn on the bike ride down to the jetty, or in the queue outside the bakery, where locals gather – in bathrobes that are colourful, inherited or borrowed, each with its own story.

– “When Lisa got in touch, it was an obvious yes! What a dream to combine my love of patterns with salty swims and Swedish summer memories. My grandfather was called Pelle and my eldest son is named after him, so the name has a particularly warm resonance for me. It’s a kind name.”

The collection consists of bathrobes and towels in two of Cathy’s most beloved patterns: Stig – classic stripes, and Spotty – playful dots..

– “Adding a hood to the bathrobes was a must – it’s always windy in Torekov, and I love pulling it over my wet hair after a swim. I’m incredibly proud of the result and the fantastic quality!”

The collection was photographed with Cathy and her family in Torekov – in their home and daily life, just as they live their summer days. The design process began with how Cathy herself lives with and uses textiles in everyday life, especially in the summer house in Torekov.
